The expression, "holy moley!" has been used historically to express surprise at some unexpected happening, such as an explosion, or a building falling down. Since the "mole" is a word of common parlance among chemists and the expression "holy moley" refers to something unusually large or or surprising, we came up with the name, "HOLY MOL-EE!"
