Individual Reflection
Once
active learning is over, some "down time"
is necessary for the brain to assimilate the
new learning and transfer it into long term memory.
It is more important than generally recognized to pause
for a few minutes before the end of class, so that students
may reflect upon, and journal about, their experiences
that day. Journaling allows students to at least begin
the process of mentally organizing and filing away the
new information gained in class before it is crowded
out with activities from the next class. Journaling
uses a different part of the brain and aids later recall. |
In HOLY
MOL-EE! students are encouraged to write and reflect upon their experiences every day so that their learning may be more complete. |
