The Concept Development Outline
Here are links
to three sample pages from the Concept Development Outline. The
full Outine is 100 pages long.
Have you ever
been in a lecture and felt frustrated because there was "just
one word" you didn't understand or one small confusion you
had which made it difficult to understand the rest of the lecture?
This occurs frequently in school settings, because students come
from a wide variety of backgrounds, and what is perfectly clear
for one student will be "clear as mud" for another. The
Concept Development Outline (or Teaching Outline for short) was
designed specifically to decrease student confusion and frustration
during lecture and thus make your job easier and more pleasant.
The Outline
breaks down each concept into bite-sized bits of information,
each of which may be taught in less than 60 seconds, and it carefully
sequences all those bits of information into a logical order,
one which students can easily follow.
It provides
at your finger tips the exact definitions of words, historical
facts, legitimate and detailed examples, and any bits of information
you might need or want to help your students grasp a new concept.
It helps your students stay with you during a presentation until
the end. It anticipates possible points of confusion and gives you
the details you need to prevent them or correct them easily when
they occur. So lecture goes more smoothly.
The Outline
is supported by the use of Guided Student
Notes,
