I
have been teaching ELL students for 5 years now, and ever
since I have started using HOLY MOL-EE! it has made my job
so much easier. The students enjoy using the music, and
with the actions it becomes easier for them to learn the
concepts.
The
senior classes like a break from their standard classes
of lectures, and performing chemistry is something quite
different from the standard. I would recommend this product
to every teacher. It is different, interesting and contains
music.

I
have always used songs, such as the ones from Mike Offutt’s
Chemistry Songbag, to supplement my science lessons. Music
breaks the boredom of lecture and "plug and chug"
problems. The songs from HOLY MOL-EE! have really
neat animation slides for students to focus on and
they also have motions to let them become active participants.
Some of my students, at first, have been reluctant to sing
along, but they tell my that they find themselves humming
the song or having it pop into their head outside of class!
This is wonderful, since the words are from HOLY MOL-EE!
chemistry principles!

I
have used Lynda's 'HOLY MOL-EE!' with 10th grade Honors
students, 11th grade Chemistry I and Chemistry II students,
and 12th grade Advanced Placement/International Baccalaureate
students. I supplement lectures, labs, etc., with her songs,
Picto-lyric Slides, and lessons. Lynda presents
the concepts accurately, but with a different approach
-- one that gets the students' attention. Some students
love it and some "love to hate it", but I really
think even the students that "gag" on the songs
still pay attention to the concepts and learn from it.

When
I see my students constantly plugged into iPods and portable
CD players, I know that music has a special significance
to their everyday lives. There are so many memories attached
to music, and my students
can still quote songs from the beginning of the year. With
a multiple intelligence approach, I know that I'm reaching
a much greater percentage of my class and making
Chemistry a lot more memorable.

I
found HOLY MOL-EE! to be an extremely useful way to supplement
the fast-paced chemistry curriculum. Most importantly, my
students looked forward to the songs, asked for them
and responded positively to the graphics and worksheets.
I used the songs both as introduction and review for a topic.
The
worksheets targeted concepts which
were difficult for my students. For example, the
“Rational Equations” worksheet, along with the
songs and motions, helped my students
learn to successfully manipulate the variables
for the Gas Law unit. The suggestions
and tools for presenting bonding were excellent: They
included acting out the bonding process, colorful personified
graphics to represent metals, non-metals and noble gases
which my students remembered throughout the year, a favorite
“Bonding Rap” song, and a worksheet that presented
ideas in a logical manner.
HOLY
MOL-EE! combines the critical concepts of chemistry in a
fun way. I look forward to using the expanded version next
year.

I
was first introduced to Lynda Jones and HOLY MOL-EE! at
ChemEd2003. I was blown away with
the catchy music, the easily applied motions and
the active and functional material included. I
have used the material as part of my teaching ever since.
One student even chided me gently that she could not get
the tune which included "6.022 times 10 to the 23rd"
out of her head. Others told me that they remembered the
words to "Down with the P. Table" long after they
were first introduced to them. This
tells me that HOLY MOL-EE! really works.

I
have used parts of HOLY MOL-EE! with my classes for the
last two years. My students love the program and ask
for the songs. Understanding and retention
have improved. HOLY MOL-EE! makes those tough topics
a lot more fun.

I
love your music and motions. My students do, too. I have
used them in my student teaching (HS), in my practicum (6th
science) and when I was substituting. I had
sixth graders begging
to perform “Three Particles” for
their classmates.
